STAR SHIELD SHOWDOWN

Anyone who's been collecting antique bottles in the West for any length of time has either seen or dug one of these great bottles, the Star & Shield - "J.F. Cutter" 5th. This popular brand of bourbon was a favorite among miners and many others durning the 1870s in the new frontier. These highly sought after containers were blown by the San Francisco & Pacific Glass Works starting about 1870 and ending around 1880. They range in a host of colors from deep chocolate  to light yellow green and come with varying amounts of crudity. Every one is totally unique in it's own way. Now wouldn't it be awesome to see a group display of these all at one time, you bet !

The "Reno & Sparks Antique Bottle Club" is planning an epic display of these bottles for their 2010 show. This is a non-competitive event that we encourage anyone who has one or more favorites they'd like to share to be a part of the display. It's not a judging about who has the best or more perfect bottle. It's about showcaseing your favorite  and the broad spectrum of colors, crudity & mould vairations these wonderful early glass containers come in.

Set-up will start at around noon on Friday and take down near the close of the show on Saturday. Only designated  personal will be allowed to load and un-load bottles to and from the display. Anyone wishing to have their bottle(s) removed Friday night will be able to do so if they desire. If space allows, your bottle(s) can be added to the display for just one day only. We want to make this as fun & flexible as possible so that anyone wishing to display will be able to do so.

To enter your bottle you will first need to clearly & securely mark the base with your own personal identification tag, no exceptions. Since the display cabinet holds 48 bottles we'll be able to accommodate anyone who'd like to be a part of this epic event. If you have more than one please consider displaying those too.

The Reno Bottle Club & organizers of the display will have security measures in place durning show hours but assume no liability for loss or damage to your bottle(s). The locked display cabinet will be monitored during show hours and roped off so no one will be allowed near it. There will also be over night security in addition to other precautions.

Pre registration is requested up until approximately one week prior to the show so we have an estimate on how many bottles each participant may display. You can contact Lou Lambert for registration or questions at: lou@oldwestbottles.com or by calling (707)823-8845.

Most people haven't a clue as to just how beautiful and unique these early glass bottles really are. Shareing our passion with each other while exposing potential new collectors is key for the hobby. This will definitly be one of the most interesting displays ever assembled of early Cutter whiskies.

Hope to see you there!

This is a listing of the confirmed displayers and tentative number of bottles they will be showing. The display holds a total of 40 bottles. The numbers per person will decrease so we can accommodate everyone who'd like to be a part of the display. So there's still room left for anyone who'd like to show their bottle(s).
